Hayo Boerema

Hayo Boerema (* 1972 in Groningen , Netherlands ) is a Dutch organist and university professor .

Life

Boerema studied organ, church music and improvisation at the Koninklijk Conservatorium Den Haag , among others with Jos van der Kooy . He then moved to the Rotterdam Conservatory , where he complemented his studies with a degree in choral conducting.

In 2005 Boerema was appointed organist at the Laurenskerk in Rotterdam . He also accepted a professorship for improvisation at the Rotterdam Conservatory.

Boerema took part in many organ improvisation competitions and is now a juror at such events, for example at the European Church Music Festival in Schwäbisch Gmünd . He gives concerts internationally, including in Spain , Finland , Norway , France and Germany .

  • 1998: First prize at the International Organ Improvisation Competition 'Anton Heiller' in Vienna
  • 1999: "Johann Pachelbel Prize" and audience award at the organ competition of the Nuremberg International Organ Week
  • 1999: Grand Prix at the "Troisième Concours Internationaux de la Ville de Paris"
  • 2001: Second prize at the St Albans International Organ Festival
  • 2004: Second prize at the International Organ Competition in Nijmegen
  • 2005: First prize at the Kotka International Organ Competition
  • 2009: Silver medal from the Société Arts-Sciences-Lettres in Paris for his services to French organ music
