Jacques Foschia

Jacques Foschia (* August 1960 ) is a Belgian improvisation musician ( clarinet , bass clarinet , electronics).

Foschia is a classically trained musician: at the end of his studies he won the first price for clarinet at the Conservatoire Royale de Mons in Belgium; he also received an honorary diploma from the Accademia Chigiana in Siena. Then he completed postgraduate studies at the Rotterdam Conservatory .

He initially worked as an interpreter in the field of classical and new music as a member of various symphony and chamber orchestras. From the late 1990s he worked in the European improvisation scene; u. a. he worked in the field of improvisation music and dance with the bassist Barre Phillips . In 1999 he presented his first self-published solo album, Radio Griffe . From 2000 he was a member of the London Improvisers Orchestra . In the London improvisation scene he also played with the Bohman Brothers, Robert Jarvis , Lawrence Casserley , David Leahy , Tony Marsh and David Thucker . From the mid-2000s he played in the German-Belgian formation Canaries on the Pole (with Christoph Irmer , Georg Wissel , Mike Goyvaerts ) with which he released two albums. He also played from 2005 to 2007 material for another solo album, Clair Obscur , which was released by Creative Sources . According to the discographer Tom Lord , he was involved in twelve recording sessions between 2000 and 2007.

Foschia also worked as a producer of radio music for broadcasters such as Kunstradio ORF, Radia FM and Silenceradio; For several years he worked with the Japanese philosopher, activist and radio artist Tetsuo Kogawa . He was also a co-founder of the experimental group La brocante sonore .
