Bob van Asperen

Bob van Asperen (born October 8, 1947 in Amsterdam ) is a Dutch harpsichordist , organist and conductor .

Life

After studying at the Conservatory in Amsterdam with Gustav Leonhardt , Bob van Asperen began his international concert career. He was a member of the ensembles "Quadro Hotteterre" and La Petite Bande , as well as the founder of the ensemble "Melante 81". After completing his studies, van Asperen taught at The Hague Conservatory . In 1967 he played the composer Johann Elias Bach in Jean-Marie Straub's feature film Chronicle of Anna Magdalena Bach . In 1988 he became a lecturer for harpsichord and figured bass at the Sweelinck Conservatory in Amsterdam, succeeding Gustav Leonhardt .

Bob van Asperen reconstructed works by Johann Sebastian Bach and the Dutch composers Sybrandus van Noord , Cornelius Thymenszoon Padbrué and Jan Pieterszoon Sweelinck . As a soloist he has recorded more than 60 CDs, including the complete works of Antonio Soler and Johann Jakob Froberger as well as the printed works for keyboard instruments by Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach and Sweelinck as well as numerous harpsichord works by Johann Sebastian Bach.

His students include Pieter-Jan Belder , Léon Berben and Bernhard Klapprott .
