Pieter M. Judson
Pieter M. Judson (* 1956 in Utrecht , Netherlands ) is an American university professor and author .
Life
Judson has been Professor of 19th and 20th Century History at the European University Institute in Florence since 2016 , having previously taught at Swarthmore College in Swarthmore , Pennsylvania , USA.
Judson's research and teaching focuses include nationality conflicts, revolutionary social movements and counter-movements in various societies. It also deals with changes in the relationship between the sexes in Vienna of the fin de siècle .
Prizes and awards
- 1996: Herbert Baxter Adams Prize from the American Historical Association for his book Exclusive Revolutionaris
- 2010: Guggenheim grant
- 2010: Karl von Vogelsang State Prize for the History of Social Sciences
- 2011: Nina Maria Gorissen Prize for History from the American Academy in Berlin
- two Fulbright scholarships each as a student and as a scientist
