Pieter Mulder

Pieter Willem Adriaan Mulder (born  July 26, 1951 in Randfontein ) is a South African politician . He has been a member of the South African Parliament since 1988, from 1988 to 1994 for the Konserwatiewe Party and since 1994 for the Vryheidsfront . In addition, he was Deputy Minister for Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries from 2009 to 2014 and Chairman of Vryheidsfront Plus from 2001 to 2016 .

Pieter Mulder was born in Randfontein in 1951, where he graduated from Riebeeck High School . He studied Communication Sciences at the Potchefstroom University for Christian Higher Education , where he a 1973 BA and 1976 a MA degree attained and in 1978 received his doctorate . From 1974 he worked at the university as a lecturer and, after an interim post-doctoral student at the University of Wisconsin – Madison , from 1984 as professor and head of the department of communication studies.

After he was first elected to the Potchefstroom City Council in 1985 , he was a member of the South African Parliament for the Conservative Party from 1988 to 1994 . Since the first general and free elections after the abolition of apartheid on April 27, 1994, he has represented as a member of the Vryheidsfront Plus (VF +), which he co-founded in March of the same year , and which he co-founded. In June 2001 he also took over the chairmanship of the party, which is conservative and positions itself as a representative of the Boers' interests in South Africa. From May 2009 to May 2014 he was deputy minister of agriculture, forestry and fisheries in the government of Jacob Zuma . In 2016 he resigned as Chairman of VF +.

Pieter Mulder is married and has one son and four daughters. He is the eldest son of Cornelius Petrus Mulder , who held political responsibility as a member of parliament for the National Party and as Minister of Information and Plural Relations and Development (1978) during the apartheid period .
