Pietro Lappi (* around 1575 in Florence , † around 1630 in Brescia ) was an Italian composer of the early Baroque.

Life

Pietro Lappi was Kapellmeister at S. Maria delle Grazie in Brescia from 1593. He composed primarily sacred music. An exception is his Op., Printed in Venice in 1616. 9, with 22 canzoni da suonare a 4 - 13 stromenti, Libro 1, these are instrumental works in the style of the Brescia school. A collection of masses published in 1613 contains works in the style of the late Renaissance as well as in the early baroque style (Stile moderno).

In 1621 Pietro Lappi dedicated Psalm 112, Laudate pueri, to the Salzburg Prince-Bishop Paris von Lodron - 16 parts from “Salmi a tre e quatro chori concertati” for four four-part choirs, prongs , trombones, violins, violas and basso continuo . The Salzburg Cathedral, with its four music galleries, offered an ideal performance opportunity for this cast.
