The Pig rock is a 65 m high cliff rocks in the archipelago of the South Shetland Islands . It is the largest of a group of rocks rising up off the Bransfield Strait one mile east of the east end of Nelson Island .
Scientists from the British Discovery Investigations mapped it in 1935. The name of the rock probably goes back to seal hunters who operated in the waters around the South Shetland Islands around 1821. The further naming background has not been passed down.
