Pinching

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The pinching (also: Pinching ) is a technique in horticulture . One or more shoot tips of a plant are removed. It causes the increased formation of new side shoots and flower buds , which restricts height growth in favor of a bushier, more compact crown. Another effect, depending on the species, is a delay in flower formation on the trimmed shoots, which, through delayed flowering, can result in an increase in the total flowering time or in promoting flower formation or fruit set.

The Pinching is a summer treat, traditionally the fruit-growing and in pot- , pot and bedding plants, especially at Bonsai , is used. The exact time and extent of the pruning vary and depend on the respective plant species. To distinguish the pinching by the nozzle (the rear section to the timber).
