The Pirin ( Bulgarian Пирин ) is a mountain peak in the Pirin Mountains in southwestern Bulgaria in the municipality of Simitli , around 14 km west of Kresna . At 2,593 m, the Pirin peak is one of the lowest in the entire mountain range and is located in its northern ridge in the Djindjiriza reserve of the Pirin National Park . Until 1942 the summit was named Golyama Djindjiritsa.
The Pirin Summit has a northeast rock face where mountaineers have carved several routes. Its other sides are overgrown with mountain pine . The summit is off the main hiking trails and is rarely climbed. There is a summit book on the summit . The cheapest way to climb it is from the village of Breschani , from the Predel refuge ( 5 hours) and from the Morawiza refuge (6 hours).
