Pisentius von Koptos (* 568/69; † 632 ) was Bishop of Koptos , an important theologian and was venerated as a saint by the Coptic Church after his death .
Livers
Pisentius was born in Psamer , Upper Egypt, to a wealthy family. At the age of seven he became a monk in the monastery of St. Phoebammon in Thebes . In 598 he was ordained bishop of Viten report, among other things, about his care for the poor. During the time when Egypt was conquered by the Sassanids (619–629), he fled to the Epiphanius monastery in Thebes. He must have died here too. His episcopal archive has been preserved from here. The documents give a unique insight into the tasks of a bishop of his time.
There are some writings that are ascribed to him, not all of which are actually from him. A sermon that has been preserved is real. The Coptic Church venerates Pisentius as a saint. His feast day is July 7th . Some monasteries are named after him.
