The Piso-Halasan or Eccat , Ekkat , Engkat , Piso Eccat is a sword from Sumatra .
description
The Piso-Halasan or Batak has a single-edged blade that is slightly curved in place . The blade runs slightly wider from the handle , becomes narrower in the middle, and widens again towards the location. The blades are mostly flat, rarely hollow ground and without a central ridge. Shortly before the handle, a sharp hook is forged on the cutting edge, which can be found on all weapons of this type. The booklet has a brass or silver ferrule , which is used for better fastening of the booklet. In some designs, the ferrule is designed as a small guard. The booklet is made from a horn of a deer species. The tip of the horn forms the pommel. The scabbards are mostly made of metal and richly decorated. The Piso-Halasan are used by ethnic groups from Sumatra.
