Pitiscus is an impact crater to the south of the lunar front , southwest of the great Janssen crater and northwest of Vlacq . The rim of the crater is hardly eroded, the interior is largely flat, apart from the two secondary craters A and E.

The crater was officially named by the IAU in 1935 after mathematician Bartholomäus Pitiscus .
