Pittheus
Pittheus ( Greek Πιτθεύς ) is the king of Troizen in Greek mythology ; Son of Pelops and Hippodameia and owner of the best wine in Greece .
He was famous for his wisdom and a good friend of Aigeus , the king of Athens , to whom he revealed the meaning of the oracle that promised the descendants of Aigeus great power in Athens on his return journey from the Apollo oracle in Delphi . Pittheus gave Aigeus his daughter Aithra in marriage so that he could father his long-awaited heir to the throne with her. The hero Theseus emerged from their love . Pittheus raised his grandson in Troizen, while Aigeus returned to Athens.
According to Plutarch in his biography of Theseus , the only source on this, he had a daughter named Henioche . This was in a mythical version of Kanetho's mother of Skiron or Sinis, handed down by Plutarch .
