Placa Laureada de Madrid
The Placa Laureada de Madrid was the highest military valor award of the Second Republic during the Spanish Civil War .
It was brought into being on March 5, 1937 by decree and was intended to replace the Cruz Laureada de San Fernando given by the nationalists . The decision to award the Placa Laureada was made, after a formal investigation, by the Cortes or the Council of Ministers. In the short time of its existence only eight people have been honored with it, among them the following four: Vicente Rojo Lluch , Luis González de Ubieta , José Miaja Menant and Leocadio Mendiola .
