Coordinates: 34 ° 37 ′ S , 117 ° 40 ′ E The Shire of Plantagenet is a local government area (LGA) in the Australian state of Western Australia . The area is 4,876 km² and has about 5000 inhabitants (2016).
Plantagenet is located in the extreme southwest of the state about 340 kilometers southeast of the capital Perth and north of Albany . The headquarters of the Shire Council is located in the town of Mount Barker , which is home to around 1900 residents (2016).

The Plantagenet Council has nine members. They are elected by all residents of the LGA. Plantagenet is not divided into districts. The Council Chairman and Shire President are also recruited from among the Councilor.
