Plastic theater hobbit

The Hobbit Plastic Theater is a private theater in Würzburg , directed by principal Jutta Schmitt. The productions range from animated puppets, figures, things and objects to film projections and shadow play. The Puppenbühne develops its own plays and adapts well-known stories for children in the permanent home and on tour. The evening program offers pieces for young people and adults. From traditional forms of puppet theater, modern forms of play are developed for the continuity of an old animated form of theater in the 21st century. Theater is created in the moment. Actions, including tactile actions, arise and work in real time. The principal's relation to modern visual arts flows into the events on the stage. Jutta Schmitt exhibits her artistic work nationally and internationally. There are changing art exhibitions in the foyer of the Hobbit Plastic Theater.

history

The Hobbit was founded in 1976 in Würzburg as a mobile stage by Bernd Kreußer. Over time, Jutta Schmitt and the musicians Rainer Schwander and Bernhard Goltz joined them. The stage became known in the regional area and played at festivals, in kindergartens and schools. First invitations to festivals in Germany and Europe with the pieces "Heinrich woin ?", " Woyzek ", "Üchtel Üchtel" and others. a. Over time, the northernmost play and work point was Uema in Sweden , the westernmost Caen in Normandy , the southernmost Mumbai in India and the easternmost Ulan Baatoor in Mongolia . In 1989, Bernd Kreußer received a scholarship at the Institute International de la Marionette in Charleville / France. Training in direction and scenography . In 1985 the first permanent house Hobbit Puppet Theater opened on Neunerplatz. After two years of renovation, the Hobbit plastic theater was finally opened in 1993 in the Petrinigewölbe in Münzstr. 1 inaugurated the " Felix Fechenbach Collage" with the piece . Since then, Jutta Schmitt and Bernd Kreußer have staged their own stories, with their own equipment in the permanent establishment. Over the years they have also welcomed numerous guest artists such as Fraunhofer Saitenmusik , Christian Bollmann , Aruna, Schwander / Goltz Duo, Börte, Omega Theater, Güterraum Theater, Free winds, Ögonblicksteatern, Compagnie FOS, Rudi Zapf and many other colleagues from the professional association Puppeteer. Principal Bernd Kreußer died in 2013. With the support of Corina Röder, Jutta Schmitt runs the theater and stages up to three new plays every year.
