Hé, a Chinese sweet in the shape of a flat peach

The flat peach has its origins in China , where it has been known for over 2500 years. There it is known under the name "pántáo" (蟠桃), which means "rolled up peach". The fruit plays an important role in the fable The Journey to the West from the 16th century, in which the Jade Emperor takes possession of the garden of rolled peaches of the goddess Xiwangmu . The Monkey King Sun Wukong eats from a fruit and thus comes to eternal life. A popular sweet in China called "hé" (籺) is preferably made in the shape of a flat peach.
