Platypeza consobrina is a fly fromthe gobble fly family (Platypezidae).

features

The flies reach a body length of 3 to 5 millimeters. The females have a gray-colored abdomen and transparent wings. The first tergite on the abdomen has a black spot in the middle, the two to four tergites have a black rear edge. The abdomen of the males is colored black, their wings are tinted smoky brown.

Occurrence and way of life

The animals are found in Northern and Central Europe.
