Placement round

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A placement round (sport) decides on the final allocation of table positions within a championship round .

Especially in fringe sports and in areas with a low population density , it happens that a sufficient number of participating clubs cannot be reached. As a result, associations often add a placement round (not to be confused with play-offs ) to regular play (championship round), which should then decide on the final placement.

Whether the regular game (championship round) or the placement round ultimately decides on the championship and / or promotion has to be clarified by the associations on a case-by-case basis.
