Playtech Ltd. is a listed gambling software company based on the Isle of Man .

history

Sportech, the Playtech sports division, was completely sold in early June 2013 and posted a net profit of £ 7.65 million. The reason given was that they no longer wanted to deal with such relatively poorly regulated industries, since Playtech is globally active.

Due to the gambling ban, many online casinos operated with Playtech software announced in January 2015 that they would be leaving the German market.

In February 2015, Playtech acquired YoYo Games for £ 10.65 million (USD 16.4 million). YoYo Games is the manufacturer and developer of the game development software GameMaker: Studio.

In 2016, Playtech bought shares in Vienna-based Best Gaming Technology, which offers software solutions in the sports betting area.

In March 2017, Playtech instructed all business partners and online casinos to take the slot machines with the superheroes from Marvel off their offer by the end of the month. The background was the non-renewed license for the slots by the Disney group , which took over Marvel in 2009 for around $ 4 billion. As early as 2013, a company spokesman stated that the group would let all its licenses for games of chance expire because slot machines would not be compatible with the image of a family-friendly company. Since April 1, 2017, Playtech's Marvel slots are no longer available in online casinos.
