Iskandar Safa

Iskandar Safa (* 1952 in Beirut ) is a French businessman of Lebanese origin.

Life

Safa's family are Maronite Christians. He graduated from the American University of Beirut . Safa was shot in the stomach during the Lebanese Civil War. His father made his fortune doing business in Saudi Arabia . Safa's private fortune is estimated at USD 520 million, making him one of the 50 richest people of Arab origin. Safa's main residences are Paris and Mandelieu-La Napoule on the French Rivera .

At the beginning of the 1990s, Safa founded the Privinvest Holding , based in Beirut , which specializes in shipbuilding with its investments . He owns this holding company together with his brother Akram Safa .

From 1993 to 2007 he was the owner of the French shipyard Constructions Mécaniques de Normandie (CMN) through his holding Privinvest . He was also able to acquire orders from the Emirati Navy for the construction of six warships at CMN. In 2007 Privinvest sold CMN to Abu Dhabi Mar , for which it received a thirty percent share in Abu Dhabi Mar. In 2010 Abu Dhabi Mar also took over the shares in the Howaldtswerke-Deutsche Werft , Nobiskrug and ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems shipyards from Privinvest. He also owns German Naval Yards Holdings in Germany through Privinvest and Hellenic Shipyards in Greece .
