history

Nobiskrug was founded in 1905 by Otto Storck after the Kiel Canal in Rendsburg created access to the sea. The shipyard is located on the old course of the Eider river , which flows into the canal 250 meters behind the shipyard.

Until the outbreak of World War I, the shipyard built around 70 vehicles, mainly pontoons and lighters . During the war, auxiliary ships and anti-mine vehicles were also produced for the Imperial Navy . After the war, cargo steamers and trawlers were sold to German shipowners . In the early 1930s, the shipyard was able to achieve particular success with the construction of a series of schooners of the I Deserve type .

Between 1935 and 1939 three customs cruisers were built for the Ministry of Finance , Nettelbeck , Yorck and Freiherr vom Stein . In the Second World War Nobiskrug again built auxiliary ships, this time for the Navy and the Air Force . These included tugs and tankers .

In 1963 the training ship Deutschland was delivered for the German Navy , and a year later the Prins Bertil, the first ferry, was delivered, followed by four more. This was followed by the construction of asphalt tankers , RoRo ships and conventional cargo ships . A larger series of freighter were 14 Liberty replacement ships of the Rendsburg type built between 1969 and 1973 .

Research vessel Polarstern

In the 1980s, special ships such as the Polarstern or the diving support ships Seabex One and Seaway Condor were launched for industrial use. During this time, the Berlin cruise ship was converted and extended at the shipyard.

The shipyard was independent until 1986, when it went bankrupt . In 1987 it was bought by HDW , with whom it merged in 2005 to form ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems  AG. After the sale on October 1, 2007, the shipyard belonged to the specially founded Eagle River Capital Ltd. on Guernsey . After a brief interlude at Abu Dhabi Mar , the Nobiskrug shipyard has been part of Privinvest since 2010 , which it merged with two Kiel shipyards in 2014 to form German Naval Yards Holdings .

Yacht building

Sailing Yacht A

Thanks to the modern super yacht hangar, high-quality work on the ships, such as coating and interior work, can be carried out under the best conditions. A partition allows a second yacht to be docked separately. Repair work is carried out worldwide by mobile task forces.

In the last ten years Nobiskrug has made a name for itself by building luxury motor yachts from 60 m in length. The first yacht was Tatoosh with a length of 93 m, which was delivered in 2000. The second superyacht, Triple Seven (68 m) won the design award of the "International Superyacht Society" a few months after its delivery. The super yacht Siren was handed over to her owner in 2008. The shipyard received the “World Superyacht Award 2009” and the “ShowBoats International Award for Best Custom Motor Yacht Interior 60 m and over” for the 74-meter-long superyacht Siren . Both the Triple Seven and the Siren were designed by the Hamburg yacht design office Newcruise .

Two more projects were completed in summer 2010: In August, the 60 m long Jamaica Bay , designed by the Dutch designer Felix Buytendijk, left the shipyard; Sycara V followed in September . The 68 m long mega yacht was designed by Craig Beale.

The new building 781, the Sapphire, followed in April 2011 . The 73.5 m long yacht is powered by two diesel engines with 2360 hp each. Two other structurally identical yachts ( Mogambo and Flying Fox , construction numbers 782 and 783) were completed and delivered in 2012. The 74-meter-long superyacht Odessa II was delivered in autumn 2013, followed in January 2017 by the 143-meter-long SY A , which at the time was the world's largest private sailing yacht.

The 80-meter hybrid yacht ARTEFACT will be delivered in March 2020.
