The type of cargo ship I earn , also known as Nobiskruger , Nobiskruger or Nobiskruger No. 1 , was the first series coastal ship type developed in Germany and also built in series .
history
In the early 1930s, the Nobiskrug shipyard in Rendsburg offered a catalog with standard types of cargo ships with prices and fixed delivery times. The construction program for these types of ships aimed at a particularly efficient construction method and, after two successful Kümo newbuilds in 1926, was a successful attempt to win new construction contracts again after the previous global economic crisis. The “I Earn” type turned out to be particularly successful and was produced twelve times. The name “I earn” was supposed to be used to advertise the particular economy of the new type. In retrospect, this turned out to be correct, because until at least the beginning of the 1990s there was evidence that there were still two, albeit often rebuilt and enlarged, “Nobiskrueger” cargo ships. The steel riveted engine protectors with transom stern were three-masters with schooner sails and a wheelhouse far aft . The design was based on the Pomeranian yacht schooner. Initially, a diesel engine of around 150 horsepower served as drive, but in the course of the years of operation the ships were later given new engines with greater power.
After the Annemarie was scrapped in Hamburg on November 1st, 2018, two ships of this series remain (as of July 2020):
- the three-masted gaff schooner Kajama , originally Wilfried , which takes day trips from Toronto , Canada ,
- the Marjorie , previously Hartstocht from 2001 to 2012 , originally Nobiskrug , was rebuilt from 2002 to 2003 and equipped with passenger cabins. She is moored as a hotel ship in Antwerp and is occasionally used for sailing trips.
