Pharyngeal plexus
The pharyngeal plexus (" pharyngeal plexus ") is a nerve anastomosis from the pharyngeal branches ( rami pharyngei ) of the vagus nerve and the glossopharyngeal nerve .
The plexus mainly serves the innervation of Schlundkopfschnürer: superior pharyngeal constrictor muscle , middle pharyngeal constrictor muscle and inferior pharyngeal constrictor muscle . In addition, sensitive fibers of the plexus serve as the afferent leg of the swallowing reflex .
