Pliny Earle Goddard
Pliny Earle Goddard (born November 24, 1869 in Maine ; died July 11, 1928 ) was an American linguist and ethnologist. Goddard was the curator of ethnology at the American Museum of Natural History in New York . Several of his works have appeared in his Handbook Series . He has made a particular contribution to research and documentation on the languages and cultures of the Athabascans . He wrote the contribution Athapascan (Hupa) for the Handbook of American Indian Languages , edited by Franz Boas .
In 1919 Goddard was elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences .
