Po prostu
Po prostu ( Polish ; frankly ) was a Polish weekly newspaper that appeared in Warsaw from July 1, 1947 to October 2, 1957 . As indicated by its subtitle ( Tygodnik studentów i młodej inteligencji ), it was aimed at students and the country's young intelligentsia .
The magazine, originally intended as required reading for young activists of the Polish United Workers' Party , which was then ruling in Poland, abruptly changed its direction, which had previously been party-conforming , following Khrushchev's secret speech (“ On the personality cult and its consequences ”) in the course of de-Stalinization . She formed the voice of politically committed students and university graduates who did not overthrow the regime, but tried to transform it in a humane manner. Party representatives initially viewed the magazine as a kind of safety valve. The editorial team was headed by the young intellectual Eligiusz Lasota (1929–2001).
The new employees of the Wochenschrift included Marek Hłasko , Jan Olszewski , Jerzy Urban , Stanisław Manturzewski , Witold Wirpsza and Agnieszka Osiecka .
The editorial was with the club of Krummen wheel ( club Krzywego Koła closely related). After two years the tolerance of the Central Committee ended and the magazine was closed by order of Gomułka . This sparked mass protests, which were put down by the Motorized Militia ( ZOMO ). After the fall of 1989 , Ryszard Turski tried to revive the magazine, but the attempt failed after a year.
