Poiretia algira is in Algeria native predatory land snail from the family of spiraxidae that the subordination of terrestrial snails belongs (gastropod).

features

The right-hand wound, spindle-shaped housing is about 3.4 to 4.7 cm long in the adult animal and reaches a diameter of about 1.4 to 2.0 cm, which makes it wider than other species of the genus. The case mouth is also relatively wide with a diameter of approximately 7 mm to 11 mm. The surface of the case is light yellow with a brown shade.

The oval, yellowish eggs are about 6.5 mm to 8 mm long and 3.6 mm to 4.3 mm wide.

Poiretia algira is found in Algeria along the Mediterranean coast .

nutrition

Poiretia algira feeds on other shell snails of various species. Depending on the type of prey, it uses an acid secretion to etch holes in the shell that are characteristic of this species of predatory snail - as is the case with terrestrial snails - or it reaches the victim via the mouth of the shell . In addition, this snail eats earthworms .
