Poison Asp was a German speed and thrash metal band from Speyer , which was founded in 1985 and disbanded in 1991.

history

The band was formed in 1984. The first appearances in the opening act for Destruction and Rage followed, as well as a first demo Schizoid Nightmares . After the band could be heard with two songs on the sampler German Metal Fighters in 1988 , the band was able to attract national attention for the first time. The band signed a recording deal and recorded the EP Beyond the Walls of Sleep . Since the label went bankrupt before the EP was released, it was never released. The first white pressings and the mother plate had mysteriously disappeared, so that the recordings of the five songs from a cassette recorder were released on vinyl in 1990, with the Semaphore label taking over the distribution. In 1991 it was announced that singer / guitarist Tosse Basler was working with members of the band Defender on a new project called Scapegoat, which meant the end for Posion Asp.

style

According to thethrashmetalguide.com , the demo is classic Speed Metal, while the EP is Thrash Metal and the speed of the songs is no longer that high. Playing the electric guitars is more technically demanding, so the music is comparable to the debut album by the Swiss band Apocalypse or the early works of Megadeth . According to classicthrash.com , the EP offers a heavy mix of speed and thrash metal, with an occasional Megadeth influence being heard here too. According to Achim Karstens from MetalStar play the tape on the EP speed metal, with songs like Euthanasia the subject of euthanasia would treat. On Schizoid Nightmares, according to Jens Reimnitz and Frank Stöver from Horror Infernal Speed Metal, the band play speed metal, which would be reminiscent of the old works by Helloween . They especially recommended the purchase to fans of high-quality speed and thrash metal.
