Poitiers Basket 86 is a French basketball club from Poitiers . He plays in the first French basketball league, LNB Pro A.
history
The association was founded in 2004 through the merger of CEP Poitiers and Stade Poitevin .
Poitiers started in the third class National 3 and in 2005 made it to the LNB Pro B, the second division. In this one could at first only just hold, but in 2006/07 the club came to the final for promotion to the first division, but was defeated by Besançon BCD . The following year it worked through the final win against Limoges CSP Elite then with the promotion.
In the first year in the LNB Pro A, they surprisingly managed to go straight into the play-offs, losing to the later champions Cholet Basket in the quarterfinals . In 2010/11 Poitiers only saved themselves on the last day of the game with a victory from relegation. 2011/12 they played a bad season again, but were at least 13th and received the league.
Hall
The club usually plays its home games at Saint Eloi , which can seat 2,700 spectators. When the crowds are high , the club plays in the larger Les Arénes , which has a capacity of 4,800 seats.
