Poko-Institut OHG is an educational institution in Germany for the further training of people from works councils , representatives for severely disabled employees and youth and trainee representatives . The company is independent from employers and unions and is owner-managed.

history

Poko was founded in 1963 by the psychologist Georg Sieber in Munich as a study group for political psychology and communication research . In 1965 Poko moved to Münster . In 1971 the psychologist Heidrun Rieder (born 1947) and the psychologist Hans Dieter Rieder (born 1943) became the owners of the Poko Institute in Münster. The publishing house Rieder GmbH & Co. Verlag für Recht und Kommunikation KG was founded in 1994 to sell specialist literature . Heidrun Rieder became the publisher's managing director. In 2008 the Art Nouveau villa, which had previously been the company's headquarters, was too small for the 55 or so employees. The company bought and moved into a 1,300 m² commercial building across the street. In 2013 over 200 speakers conducted over 1,000 training courses at more than 80 seminar locations.

The following topics are dealt with in the seminars: Works Constitution Act , labor law , economic fundamentals, starting work as a works council, personnel matters, special features of older employees, working hours and wages, termination under German labor law , downsizing , restructuring , data protection , occupational health protection , psychosocial issues Stress, addiction, peculiarities of the field service, peculiarities in clinics & hospitals and tariff application in the company. Further topics are rhetoric , conducting discussions, conflict management and public relations .

The speakers include judges from labor and social justice, lawyers and specialist lawyers for labor law, works constitution law and social law , communication trainers from the fields of psychology, pedagogy and social sciences and experts in business, health protection and other specialist areas.

The training courses are aimed at works council chairpersons and deputy works council chairpersons, assistants and secretaries, members of the general works council , group works council and European works council , committees, supervisory board , youth and trainee representatives and representatives of severely disabled people . Furthermore, joint training courses for works councils and managers as well as members of the staff council are offered.
