Pol-e Dochtar: Detailed view of the bridge arch

Pol-e wick ( Persian پل‌دختر, 'Bridge of the Daughter', also Pol-e Dokhtar ) is a city in the Iranian province of Lorestan . According to an extrapolation of 2012, the city has 23,240 inhabitants and is the capital of the administrative district of the same name ( Schahrestan ) Pol-e Dochtar . The name goes back to a famous bridge over the Kaschkan river , which joins the Seymare to the Karche shortly after this bridge . The Persian name means the daughter's bridge and is sometimes interpreted to mean that the Sassanid building came from King Shapur I and was dedicated to his daughter.

The 270 meter long bridge once overcame the river with nine pillars. In addition to the remains of piers in the river bed, there is still a bridge ramp on the right bank and a bridge arch on the left bank, which spans the busy road from Khorramabad to Dezful . The height of this arch is 17 meters, the width of the bridge 9 meters.

In the vicinity of the bridge there are also remains of a bridge from the Achaemenid period , which was part of the east-west axis of the Persian royal road .
