Pol Sax (* 1960 in Schifflingen ) is a Luxembourgish writer .

life and career

He studied German and philosophy at the University of Heidelberg and at the Université libre de Bruxelles . Pol Sax initially worked in the catering industry. a. as the operator of the Heidelberg pasta factory from 1994 to 1996. He then worked as a barman until 1999.

Pol Sax has been living as a freelance writer in Berlin since 2001 . He writes reviews of German-language literature for the Saarland broadcasting company and for Internet forums such as fackel.de. In 2008 he made his debut with the novel U5 ( Elfenbein Verlag ), named after the subway line in Berlin, which is the backdrop for a complex relationship story around three marginal social figures. The artistic creation process, life on the edge of bourgeois forms of life as well as social and communicative searches between longing for love, loneliness and relational memories are central features of the novel, which addresses death and guilt.

For his work on the novel project Pulilux / The Flying Robert about an unemployed master painter and bachelor who accepts a job as a representative for Vorwerk vacuum cleaners , Pol Sax received the 2002 scholarship from the German Writers' Association in Baden-Württemberg. In 2009 he was also awarded the Luxembourg Prize for Literature, Prix ​​Servais .
