Polar coordinate paper

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Polar coordinate paper is one of the mathematical papers and is covered with a coordinate network of rays and concentric circles, so that polar coordinates can be displayed on it in a simple manner.

Functions in which a quantity depends on an angle can be drawn on such a network by plotting the function value in the direction of the relevant angle. The following shows the characteristics of a microphone as an example . In the forward direction (0 °) the sensitivity is 100 percent , in the reverse direction (180 °) only 20 percent. On the sides (90 ° and 270 °) the microphone has a sensitivity of almost 70 percent. This means that this microphone in the direct field (free field) reacts primarily to noises from the front, less to the side and hardly to those from behind (directional microphone, directional characteristic ).
