Polingen is a desert near Gerbstedt in Saxony-Anhalt . There was an Upper and a Lower Polingen, both of which can still be recognized as small forests between Piesdorf, a district of Könnern , and the Derlingen desert . According to research by the district administrator of Wedell, there were even four Polingen, namely front, rear, large and small Polingen, which are probably named in a papal document from 1206 for the Gernrode monastery as "quatuor Pollega" . They are roughly in an east-west line.

Groß-Polingen (coord.) Is located in a forest used by Wild as a resting place, there are deep holes in the ground here. In addition, a wall runs right through the wood. Groß-Polingen is protected in a pit, from here the three other Polingen and the Derlingen desert can be seen in the south.

Klein-Polingen (Coord.) Is located in a small forest west of Groß-Polingen, from here Groß-Polingen can be seen. In addition, one has the best view of the Derlingen desert from this Polingen.

Today, Ober / Unter-Polingen can no longer be found as woods, they were about one kilometer north of Ihlewitz .
