The Polish War Cemetery Hamburg-Ohlsdorf (Polish War Memorial , in Polish: Polska Kwatera Wojenna 1939-1945 ) is located within the Ohlsdorf cemetery , which is in the Ohlsdorf district of the city of Hamburg in Germany. The Polish war graves are located near the eastern entrance to the cemetery ( Bramfeld, Bramfelder Chaussee ) and a little further away from Chapel 13.
Architectural design
A large stone cross with 5 smaller stone crosses on both sides draws attention to the war cemetery.
The memorial text is written on a stone:
"Polakom - ofiarom nazistowskiej agresji i wojny 1939-1945"
The graves are marked by lying stones. A list of names is available.
More Polish war graves and memorials
- Sixteen Polish soldiers are buried in the northwestern part of the New Cemetery in Hamburg-Harburg. They took part in the Warsaw Uprising in 1944 and died as forced laborers on the Veddel on March 22, 1945, defenseless in a bomb attack. Other Polish victims are buried in the central area of the cemetery in an oval lawn together with victims from other nations.
