Polish World Council

The Polish Ecumenical Council ( Polish: Polska Rada Ekumeniczna ) is an association of various Christian churches in Poland. Old Catholic , Protestant and Orthodox churches belong to it. It was founded in 1946.

Goals and Organization

The goals of the community, which was formed in 1946, are “spiritual rapprochement” and “cultivation of brotherhood” in the relationship between the churches. The commitment to religious freedom is particularly important.

In contrast to the - comparable - “ Working Group of Christian Churches in Germany ”, the Roman Catholic Church is not a member of the Polish Ecumenical Council.

The Orthodox Bishop of Wroclaw-Stettin Jeremiasz Anchimiuk was the chairman until his death .
