Polo's butterfly thing

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Polo's Butterding is a Swiss band that was founded in 1978.

In 1978, the Swiss radio DRS launched the new FM frequency. As an advertisement, Polo Hofer produced the song “UKFee” with the musicians from Span .

history

The recordings for the song UKFee went so well that it resulted in a further collaboration. After Rumpelstilz , Polo Hofer pushed through that his name became part of the band name. The name Polo's butterfly was born . The band's manager was Peter Wälti. Hofer decided against a guitar band, which is why Housi Wittlin had to leave the band. He was replaced by Marianna Polistena ( keyboard instruments ), who had previously played in the "Asphalt Blues Company".

The first album with the title "Polos ButterDing" had little success. When the then illegal radio station Radio 24 was founded by Roger Schawinski in 1979 , Hofer was commissioned to compose a suitable song. Although Radio DRS boycotted the competing song “Radio 24”, it landed in second place on the Swiss charts after a few weeks . After Span's success with the “Tschou Zämä” album, intended as a farewell album, in 1982, Polo's Schmetterling broke up. Span focused, motivated by the success, back to their own projects and Hofer made with a group of Swiss artists a trip to China, produced the less successful album "Switzerband" and founded in 1984 the Schmetterband .
