Rumpelstilz (band)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Rumpelstilz was a Swiss dialect rock - band .

history

Rumpelstilz was founded in 1971 by Hanery Amman (piano) and Polo Hofer (vocals, lyrics), together with guitarist Jürg Werren, bassist Sämi Junge and drummer Hans Junge. Hans Junge was replaced by Küre Güdel shortly after the company was founded, and Jürg Werren by René "Schifer" Schafer six months later .

The first single was the not very successful Warehuus-Blues in 1973 , followed by the first long-playing record Vogelfuetter in 1975 . The bass player for the studio recordings was Christian Ramseier and the keyboard player was Urs Wirth. Her appearance at the Montreux Jazz Festival in 1975 made Rumpelstilz known to a wider audience. Her commercial breakthrough came in 1976 with the song Teddybär , shortly afterwards Kiosk became her biggest hit. Both singles are extracts from the LP Füüf Narre im Charre , which was also released in 1977 in a High German translation as the LP “Fünf Narren im Karren”. With the High German single Kiosk , Rumpelstilz also became known in Germany and reached the German single charts in 1977 .

In 1978 the fourth album was released, the double LP Fätze u Bitze vo geschter u jitze . One record contains the film music for little ones freeze even in summer (Peter von Gunten), the second a live concert from Atlantis Basel. The members then pursued various solo projects and went their separate ways for over ten years. In 1989 they gave three concerts, one of which was a very successful live album. An acclaimed Swiss tour followed. Then the band split up. Only in 2002 was there a single revival concert in the original formation on the occasion of Expo.02 in Biel.

Numerous Rumpelstilz songs have since been covered, e.g. B. from George ( E Rägetag am Meer ), Plush ( teddy bear ), QL ( kiosk ), Span ( Uf däm long Wäg ) and others. Rumpelstilz are now considered to be the pioneers of Swiss dialect rock. Part of the exhibition "Jungfrau, Hofer & Ragusa" from May 1, 2007 to January 6, 2008 in the Historical Museum in Bern was dedicated to the group.
