René "Schifer" Schafer (born January 6, 1953 in Matten near Interlaken ) is a Swiss musician , composer and arranger .

Life

Schafer learned to play the piano and guitar and founded his first group, the Panthers . He later played with the progressive group Los Popperos and from June 1972 until their dissolution in 1978 with the dialect rock group Rumpelstilz . He broke off the pedagogical training he had started and turned to compositions and musical arrangements.

In 1989 he was heard on the self-produced Stiller Has music cassette Stiller Has . In March 1994 he co-produced the Stiller Has album Landjäger and in autumn of the same year went on tour with the group and the Basel Werkstattorchester. From October 1995 to August 1997 Schifer was on tour with Hank Shizzoe in Europe and America and was also involved in the recordings for his album Plenty of Time (1998). Schafer was seen more and more often with Stiller Has and was a permanent member of this group from 2000 to 2016.
