Polymerus nigrita is a species of bug from the family of soft bugs (Miridae).

features

The bugs are 4.0 to 4.9 millimeters long. The species of the genus Polymerus have a predominantly black or black and yellow basic color. The top of the body is covered with scale-like, golden or silvery hairs and the splints ( tibia ) have strong black thorns. Polymerus nigrita has a completely dark colored pronotum , scutellum and corium. Orange patterns are formed on the Cuneus. The rails have wide, pale bandages.

Occurrence and habitat

The species is common in Europe with the exception of the far north and the Mediterranean, where it occurs only in the extreme north. To the east, it spreads in Asia to Siberia, China and Korea. In Germany and Austria the species occurs everywhere and is not uncommon. Dry and moist, open habitats are settled.

Way of life

Polymerus nigrita lives on different bedstraws ( Galium ), such as meadow bedstraw ( Galium mollugo ), marsh bedstraw ( Galium palustre ), real bedstraw ( Galium verum ) and burdock bedstraw ( Galium aparine ). The adults can be observed from June to September. The females pierce their eggs one by one into the unripe fruits of the food plants.
