Pomeroy State Park is an unmarked state park with no facilities in the US state of Connecticut in the territory of the municipality of Lebanon . The park was established on Charles Pomeroy's estate around 1955. Today the park covers 200 acres (81 ha); he has no public access.

The park is located on Mountain Street ( Connecticut Route 289 ), south of the Willimantic parish line and south of Hosmer Mountain . The road runs over a mountain saddle that separates the Jordan Brook , which drains east to the Shetucket River , from the source streams of the Tenmile River . The highest point is Bush Hill at 500 ft (152 m) above sea level .

history

Pomeroy State Park was named after Charles Pomeroy, a textile manufacturer. It protects a forest area that borders on protected farmland. The nature in the park was not disturbed by any construction work. 90 acres of the area were formerly part of the Pomeroy estate. Around 1955, the park was first listed at 99 acres in the Connecticut State Register and Manual . In 1963 the park expanded to 104 acres.

The park has no facilities, but offers hiking and hunting opportunities.
