The Pomosinwerke are a place in Gomaringen in the Tübingen district .

history

The Gomaringer Pomosinwerke were from 1936 a branch of the Frankfurter Obsttrocknungsgesellschaft, in which the marc , which was the residue from pressing apples, was dried. The gelling agent pectin was obtained from pomosin in Frankfurt .

Today, pomosin is the trade name for a citrus pulp that is produced when juice is extracted from citrus fruits or pectins from citrus peel. Citrus pulp is a feed legally approved. After the juice has been pressed, the essential oils, for example for perfume production, are usually separated and the remaining components, ie the inner pulp, pieces of pulp, the peel and z. Some of the seeds can be fed to cattle as supplementary feed.

Today, pomosin is mainly made from lemon peel by the US company CP Kelco in Großenbrode on the Baltic Sea coast in Schleswig-Holstein. The plant has been in operation since 1950. In 1969 the company's shares were taken over by the Italian company Cisalpina in Bergamo , which shortly thereafter acquired parts of the former Großenbrode airfield from the Federal Ministry of Finance . The factory was greatly enlarged and modernized in 2000.
