Ponta da Mina ( Portuguese for "top of the mine") is a headland 2 km northeast of Santo António , the capital of the island of Príncipe in São Tomé and Príncipe .
geography
The headland extends from the south into the Baía de Santo António . It is framed by rocks and the Fortaleza de Santo António da Ponta da Mina is at its highest point. The next settlement is São João in the west. The beach Praia de Évora extends to the southeast
There is a lighthouse near the fortress, which was only built in 1996. The beacon is 54 m high and extends up to 9 NM (17 km).
