from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Pornceptual is an artist collective in Berlin that organizes sex-positive techno and fetish parties as well as producing and distributing pornographic photography and videos.

Pornceptual was started in 2012 by the Brazilian artist Chris Phillips as an internet platform for erotic photography. Together with three others, Eric Phillips, Rauqel Fedato and Diego Garcia, he then founded the collective that has been organizing parties in Berlin since 2013. Pornceptual sees itself as an alternative to the mainstream of the porn industry. The aim of the collective is to create queer , inclusive, ethical, intimate and artistic access to pornography as well as space for the tabooing of nudity and sexuality. The collective writes on its website: "Can art do what pornography fails at - really turn us on?"

Until January 2016 the parties took place in the Prince Charles in the Aufbau Haus . Since then, they have been organized in the Alte Münze . Parties last about 14 hours and each has a motto. Performances and art installations are part of the events. Up to 2500 visitors take part in the events that take place every two months. Offshoots of the party also took place in Sao Paulo , New York and Stockholm , among others .

On the collective's website, nude photos are posted and fetish clothing is sold. The collective runs a porn magazine that appears twice a year.

Together with other queer Berlin collectives, Pornceptual founded the electronic music festival WHOLE - United Queer Festival .
