Pornchild was a Swiss metalcore band from Basel . The band can also be assigned to Nu Metal or Alternative Metal due to their musical style . They became known by winning the “Basler Band goes CH” award.

history

The band was founded in 1998 by Philippe von Arx, Julien Duseyau, Daniel Ogriseg and Christian Dill. Shortly afterwards, they started writing their first lyrics and created their first demo . Then they played their first concerts with bands like Gurd . Their second demo appeared in the summer of 1999 and won the “Best Place at Prime Time” category at the Basel Youth Culture Festival. Since the band did not have enough money for studio recordings for a first album, it was decided to record another demo. Shortly afterwards Christian Dill left the band and was replaced by Christian Specker. In 2001, the French funding organization discovered Vivipare and shortly afterwards sent the band's demos to various metal magazines, whereupon the band achieved great success with their songs with readers.

Finally Christian Specker left the band, whereupon Martin Huber took his place on drums. Shortly thereafter, the band won the Basel award “Basler Band goes CH” and got a record deal with N-Gage Productions . In 2002 she released her debut album Have You Ever…? , which was produced by front man von Gurd and producer VO Pulver. In 2005, the second album followed, Nothing is for Eternity , the title suggesting that the band would probably break up. The album was christened on January 22, 2005 in the Sommercasino Basel, and the band said goodbye to their audience and fans on the same evening.
