Porpoise Canyon

The Porpoise Canyon is a deep sea trench off the Clarie coast of the East Antarctic Wilkesland .
It is named after the naming of the neighboring Porpoise Bay . Its namesake is the Porpoise , one of the ships of his United States Exploring Expedition (1838–1842) under the direction of Charles Wilkes . The designation of the deep sea trench has been recognized by the Advisory Committee for Undersea Features (ACUF) since July 1999 .
