Portal Tomb by Drumhawnagh

The Portal Tomb von Drumhawnagh (also called Druid's Altar) is located in the townland Drumhawnagh ( Irish Druim Thamhnach ) in the village of Loughduff ( An Lathaigh Dhubh ) in County Cavan in Ireland . In the British Isles, portal tombs are megalithic systems in which two upright stones of the same height with a door stone in between form the front of a chamber that is covered with a sometimes huge capstone.

The Tomb portal is located in the garden of a modern house. The polygonal chamber is about 2.3 m long and 2.0 m wide behind the portal stones and narrows to 1.1 m at the end. It consists of two portal stones, two side stones, an approximately 1.25 m high end stone and the not in situ lying approximately 1.9 × 1.8 m measuring, 20 cm thick cap stone. The two portal stones are about 1.55 m high and 0.75 m apart. A side stone and the end stone are steeply inclined inwards.
