Elke Seefried (* 1971 in Otting ) is a German historian . Since 2020 she has held the chair for modern history (19th - 21st centuries) with its knowledge and technology cultures at RWTH Aachen University. Before that, she was Professor of Modern History at the University of Augsburg and at the same time deputy director of the Institute for Contemporary History (IfZ) in Munich and Berlin.

Career

Seefried first studied business administration and graduated with a diploma (FH). She then studied history and political science and graduated with an MA in 1999 . Alongside Eckart Conze , Dominik Geppert , Joachim Scholtyseck , Jürgen Frölich and Ewald Grothe, Seefried has been the editor of the yearbook on research on liberalism , which is published on behalf of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom , since 2017 . She is a member of the board of trustees of the Wolf Erich Kellner Memorial Foundation for the award of the Wolf Erich Kellner Prize and a member of the advisory board of the Federal President Theodor Heuss House Foundation in Stuttgart.
