The Porteous Point is a headland at the southwestern end of Signy Iceland in the archipelago of the South Orkney Islands . It is located on the south side of the entrance to Cummings Cove or on the northeast side of the entrance to the Fyr Channel .
Scientists from the British Discovery Investigations mapped the headland in 1933. It is named after Andrew Nicol Porteous (1889 - unknown), engineer on the research vessel RRS Discovery II .
