Portinatx is the largest resort in the municipality of Sant Joan de Labritja in the north of Ibiza .
Originally there was a small fishing village on the bay of Cala Portinatx. The bay also served as a port through which goods were brought to mainland Spain. Today the remote place has been developed for tourism and the bay is surrounded by hotel complexes. The coast is rocky and is interrupted by a few bays with smaller sandy beaches. Ibiza town is around 30 km away. There is a bus stop in town, but it is rarely used.
